Missing the Sand

November 5, 2018

To say I’m missing the sand would be an understatement. I was going through old photos from the summer last week and ran across a few that just tugged at the heart strings and had me looking up plane tickets to fly back up to Michigan. They also reminded me of why I fell in love with this style of photography, and why I so desperately want to share it with everyone. It’s magic. It’s raw emotion and pure honesty. There are no poses, no fake cheesy smiles, and no holding back. It’s messy and it’s blurry. It’s fast and its slow, it freezes time. It makes you feel - you smile, you cry, you laugh. It can make you feel everything. So many people ask me where my studio is when I tell them I’m a family photographer - and I’m excited to tell them it’s everywhere. It’s where you’re living in the moment and it’s when you forget that I’m here. Everyone should have a lifestyle session someday, it will be a special moment captured on film to be remembered always. When I’m missing the sand, I can look at the photos below and I can feel it between my toes. Its magic. Now, back to looking for plane tickets…
