Sometimes there are images that just move you. After almost every session I have such a hard time picking my absolute hands-down favorite capture from that day. I usually find myself pulling my hair out trying to pick just one. On occasion though, there is one image that stands out amongst the others. The one that just makes me catch my breath. And time after time I find that that one image is one with the mother. Maybe its because as a mother who is absent from 99% of her family photos, I know that capturing that special moment between mother and child is so beautiful, so powerful, and, for many of us moms, so rare. We always seem to be the one behind the camera, herding the children, quieting their tears or tantrums or catching them right before they jump into the giant mud puddle strategically located right where we’re having photos taken. More often than not, we as mothers don’t exist in photos. And it is so so so important that we do. If not for ourselves, then for them. They will want photos of us when they get older. The images of a child and mother tug at my heart and warm my soul. These are the images that move me.
This capture of an enchanting mother and angelic child will undoubtedly always be, for me, one of those special images that warms my soul.
